Short Critique – CSW Central
January 30 @ 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm
Come hang out with your fellow writers. We meet at 6:00pm, then starting about 6:30pm we’ll do short critiques of our members’ novel chapters or short stories.
Both giving and receiving critiques helps build our abilities as writers. Critique is given writer to writer and its purpose is to help the author improve the piece. You don’t need to be an expert to give a useful critique, and we take people at any ability level.
Bring one printed copy of your work, standard manuscript format. This means 8½ x 11 paper, 1 inch margins all around, a 12 point easily readable font (Times, Courier, Bookman, Palatino, etc), and double-space your lines (24 or 25 lines per page). There must be enough white space to for your critique partners to leave feedback. Unlike standard manuscript format we prefer you staple your pages, and printing on both sides is okay.
Short means five pages, not five sheets printed on both sides (which is ten pages). If your scene/chapter/short story is a little bit longer, bring the whole thing. If we have time we’ll do more than five pages.
Drop in and say hi. We’d love to have you.
